"The Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good and evil acts--what we have done. It is an acknowledgement of the final effect of our acts and thoughts-- what we have become." - Elder Dallin H. Oaks

Nerd. . .? Yes.

Yes, it has happened. I have officially become a nerd about something, and that would be. . .
CHOIR!!!!
I have been introduced to an AMAZING choral director/ music writer by the name of Eric Whitacre. He is so incredible. He did what's called a virtual choir where people submitted videos of themselves singing his song "Lux Aurumque," and he had them all put together into a choir. It was so cool! He's doing another one to his song "Sleep," which is a beautiful song. And guess what?? I'm going to do it! I'm going to record myself singing, and I'm going to submit it onto the thing, and I am going to be in Eric Whitacre's virtual choir. I'm am so excited! I'm going to put a link to his blog on my blog in case you're interested in checking him out.
Another thing that makes me a choir nerd: This year our school schedule has been changed to include an Intervention/Enrichment period, and almost everyday, I find myself in the choir room singing. It's so much fun, and it's such a stress reliever from school.
My newest ambition is actually to be in the choral program at BYU. I went to their choir showcase last week, and I was blown away by how amazing they are!
Well, my new found nerdiness was all I had to talk about. Love you all!

School and Stuff

Hey guys! This week was the first week of school. This year I am taking AP Calculus, AP American Language/ College Writing, Chemistry, US History, Digital Photography, Concert Choir, Seminary, and Floral Design (which I am hoping to change). It's a pretty good mix of fun, and work! :D
I'm glad to be back at school with all of my friends, and to actually be doing something with my life. Last night my friend, Rachel Johnson, had a volleyball tournament over at the school. I went to part of that, and she made some pretty sweet kills by the way. They won a LOT of their games. They played really well! I also went to the football game which we won 49-20. We were up against "The Stansbury Cripples." (Ha ha that's what my friend John called them.)
Oh. My. Goodness. I can't believe I haven't written about this yet. My birthday was on Sunday! On Saturday, I had a party with a bunch of girl friends. We played games, and were really loud, and then we watched The Last Song, which is actually a very good movie, even though it's starring Miley Cyrus. Then on Sunday, we had family over and we had dinner, and cake and ice cream. Later that night (at 10) I got to go tunnel singing up at BYU with Rachel, Lauren, and John. It was sooo much fun! On Tuesday, Tyler Garver came over to my house and asked me on my first date! It was a blast! We doubled with Andrew Holman and Abi Roundy. We went to Sonic and ordered at the drive thru, and Tyler paid in change because he thinks it's hilarious to do that. Ha ha and then we took our food over to the park by Walmart, Neilson's Park, and ate. Then we rode on the spinny swings for a while. After that we went over to Nickel City and played in the arcade. Tyler and I got enough tickets to get 2 potato guns and some tootie frooties. After that we went to Tyler's house and played a game called Settlement, and Abi completely wiped us out on that game. Ha ha It was a great first date! :D
Today I might go to the farmers market, and then I'm going to be busy going to someone's party. . . I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say what that is until later. . . and then I'm going to go to Steven Pelham's farewell party for a while, and then I will probably go to the stake dance. And ya, that's my awesome life right now.
Hope you all have an amazing weekend! Love ya!

Guitars and Things

Hola! Last week I woke up every morning at 7 to work in our front yard. I went up against killer wasps, freaky red spiders, and biting rose bushes. I was so happy when Friday rolled around, because I thought I was done! But, alas, no. I realized that the flower bed by our front door was not done! So this morning, I got up and finished it! Now I'm all finished with the front! I get to start on the back now. I'm trying to summon the motivation to do that. :D
Today Caleb came over for his first guitar lesson! He brought over his 12 string. It took us forever and a day to tune it because the top strings would always go out of tune by the time we got to the bottom ones. :D But finally we got it worked out, and we began. At that point we realized that a 12 string guitar is pretty much impossible to play. So instead, we just went right to the 6 string guitar. I tried to teach well, but of course, I'm not exactly what you'd call certified. I had a little packet thing kind of printed out, and I hope that helped, but only time will tell. He's going to practice, and then he's going to get back to me and let me know when he wants another lesson. :D
I now have a blog that my photography will be showcased on. Here's the address if you haven't seen it. It's also on my Facebook beneath my profile picture. :)

That's it for today! Love you all!

Mia Shalom 2010

We got back from Girls Camp today. I had such a FABULOUS time! The young women in our ward are so amazing, and they are a blast to be around!A couple of fun experiences:
-There was a family of deer sleeping under my cabin-Rayshaun used a painted paper plate, leggings, shorts, and an emergency blanket, to create a Nacho Libre costume. Then we ratted Rachel Johnson's hair to make her Esqueleto. We then used that in our cheer
-Almost got struck by lightning during singing in the trees
-I fell while carrying a cooler with Susie
-We found bear claw markings on trees, while on the hike
-We found cement step things and did the Karate Kid pose on them-We found a dead rat in one of our trash cans when we got up to camp
-Went canoeing-We found spaces leading from the top to the bottom floor of one of the cabins, and decided to play basketball/dodgeball/baseball/soccer with them and a bag of candy.
-We sang songs-We built a puzzle to symbolize our unity-Rayshaun and I skipped up and down the hill
-We played Psychiatrist
-We got rained on everyday
-Had an AMAZING testimony meeting, and got to hang out with our bishopric which is always a blast
Camp was seriously amazing! We have such an awesome ward and I loved getting to know everyone even better! I hope your week was even a fraction of the awesomeness that mine was!

Santa of Summer

Today is Lauren Heperi's birthday!! Feliz cumpleanos chica!!! :D
She had a pool party for her birthday, and it was WAY fun! We swam, danced and sang to loud music, sun tanned and got burned, and played colors. . . Ha ha. It was VERY fun.
Because of this awesome party, I am now the Santa of Summer. I've got a bright red cherry nose. Ha ha :D
Well, that's it for today. Ha ha ha merry summer to all, and to all feel sunlight!

Rambler! Rambler! Rambler!

So as you can probably tell, I only write on my blog when something super exciting has happened, or when I'm really bored. When it's the second situation, I tend to ramble on about random things. Well, today is one of those days. Ha ha. So bear with me please!!! :D
Next week is girls camp, so today we went to Costco and Winco to do some grocery shopping. On Thursday and Monday, we have to make more trips to Costco. So it'll be pretty fun. :D
Today is. . .
My friend's birthday
Hot
Boring at the moment
. . .Tuesday.
One time, Lauren Heperi wrote lyrics to a song about Tuesday. I was supposed to make up a guitar part for it, but I didn't feel like I was in my zen. . . Maybe when I get back from running errands with my mom, I will work on that. I feel like I have my chi/zen attitude on now. :)
I just had a great idea for a song about summer! But I'm not going to tell you about it because I don't want it to be stolen. :D
I don't know if I mentioned this last time, but, did you see my blog? Well, obviously, but did you notice it?! They have all of these new backgrounds and templates now that you can use to make your blog super-duper unique! It's pretty fun!
Speaking of blogging, a couple of days ago, I made a photography blog. This blog is where I will be posting all of my photos now. I got tired of putting them on Facebook because the photo quality of Facebook did them no justice. So here's the link!

Lovely Summer Days

Next week is girls camp!!! It's coming up so fast!!! Yesterday we had a few young women come over to help us clean up the boxes and coolers. We got it all done, and now. . . it's in our living room. Ha ha. Gotta love it. :D
Today I went to my friend's mission farewell. His name is Matt Barry. His talk was so amazing! He talked about how scared he is to go on his mission, but he knows that the Lord is there with him. One of my favorite things that he said was this.
"
Pray Always. It may not seem significant but to me this represents that the communication of prayer is always open. Even though electricity may fail and technology won't work, we always have an open communication with our Father in heaven."
Can I just tell you? This guy is so spectacular. He's truly amazing, and he is going to be an outstanding missionary down in Brasilia, Brazil. He is going to change so many peoples' lives. :)
It's been so hot!! I LOVE it!!! Summer is definitely my favorite season. Although, I'm actually really excited to get back to school. As amazing as my summer has been, I've had a lot of time of doing. . . nothing. So I really am excited to be busy doing something again!
Well, that's pretty much it for today. Have a happy day!
-Rachel :D

Summer!

Hey there! Ha ha. It's been what. . . 4 months since I've updated my blog? Sad! Anyway, school's out for summer!!! (Anyone else have that 'School's Out' song from Guitar Hero pop into their head?) Life has been fabulous! Since I've last updated I've been to see Jason Aldean, become an upperclassman, mowed 7 inch grass, seen it snow in the last week of May, failed to find a song with my name in it, been to Disneyland, fallen on the floor after doing an epic jump move off of the stairs at school, started saying "EPIC FAIL!" and "SUCCESS!", had a creep-o ask me out 4 times and then he told me he loved me (weirdo. . .), started taking driver's ed, painted my fingernails and toenails greenish-blueish, attempted to play Sunshine (my friend's uke), made a pact to never eat at McDonald's again, bought gladiator sandals, eaten an apple a day (which started on Monday last week), sworn to wear no makeup this summer except on special occasions and for church sometimes, taken lots of pictures, played tennis for the 2nd time in my life and was horrible, made about 50 new best friends on choir tour, went backstage at Disneyland and recorded Disney music there, been to the beach, stayed in a hotel with a koi pond that also had turtles in it, found my dream house by the ocean, learned to like cinnamon bears, saw Hairspray live in LA, had a best friend leave on his mission, started to grow out my hair again, and I've also started to run again.
Overall, I think it's been a very busy and productive 4 months. Don't you? Ha ha. I went running with Susie this morning and that was pretty hysterical. We ran about a mile and we were so dead after. It was pretty funny. Her dad made us scrambled eggs and pancakes when we got back.
Lauren is staying over with us because her parents are in New York. Right now she's at a retreat for the stake YCL's. Tonight we're going to have a movie night and watch the movies she's never seen before that she has to see in order for her life to be complete.
Rachel and Susie and I want to go swimming today. We'll see if that happens. Ha ha. Today I also have to mow the lawn and go order scentsy stuff for my mom from Sister Young. I wonder if I'll get tan at all today. The farmer's market is going on today too. Maybe I'll try to go to that. If not, I'll go next week.
Steven Pelham and I decided to have a movie party so that I can watch Strange Brew, which is apparently the best movie on the planet, and I can't move on with my life without seeing it. So hopefully we'll have that sometime soon so that I can feel fulfilled. Ha ha.
Anyway, I'm going to go mow the lawn before it gets too hot. Adios! I hope your day is merry and bright!

2010

Hola! Ha ha. This is my first post of 2010 and it's already February. Sorry about that! Um. . . Nothing new has really happened. Spencer moved out again, to the same place he was before. He's coming over tonight after the superbowl. So that should be muy divertido! (very fun)
I have an amazing recipe for chocolate chip cookies, and so I'm making some of those. They're so delicious!! Ha ha.
I'm wearing my glasses, so I can actually see! It's fabulous!
Also, it's almost Valentine's Day! I hope you guys have someone you can daydream about on that wonderful day of love and lacy pinks and reds. I don't, but I'll pretend like I do just to have some fun.
Rachel and Susie and I went and saw Leap Year yesterday! It was such a cute story, and inspired me to decide that I am going to marry an Irish man, or at least try to. Lol.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day!
Love-
Rachel
